Exclusive: Zendaya's Original Oscar's Clutch Up For Auction!

If you follow me on Instagram and have been watching my Instagram Stories, then you may have noticed the heaviness of the content as it pertains to the current climate of the Black Lives Matter movement, the protests, and how all of this is subsequently trickling down into the Fashion Industry where brands and key people who do not operate in the best interest of BIPOC Creatives and Executives are being called out for making performative public relations friendly posts supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, although their company culture says otherwise.

Which brings me to revisit Zendaya's iconic Vivienne Westwood look for the 2015 Oscar's. We all remember this look which was rocked by controversy when Fashion Police host Guiliana Rancic remarked that Zendaya's gorgeous faux dreadlocks must have reeked of Patchouli oil, which was immediately met with controversy from the Black community worldwide, and ultimately led to Zendaya responding about microaggressions.

So when Johnny Valencia, owner of the vintage shop Pechuga Vintage shared a story from his time working at the Vivienne Westwood boutique in Los Angeles, stating that he had to sneak the dress out of the boutique because the manager didn't value Black talent nor Black creatives, it really upset me because it exhibits one of the obstacles that BIPOC face within the industry. This incident highlights one of the many issues within the fashion industry, and it really needs to stop because it is such an outdated concept.   The positive however illustrates how important it is to have allies in your corner, and this moment wouldn't have happened without Johnny Valencia having LAW Roach's back.

The story as told by Johnny Valencia

Which leads to this very exciting news! Johnny was able to track down the person who bought the Snakeskin Embossed Clutch that Zendaya carried to the Oscars and has decided to part with it for a great cause. Pechuga Vintage is hosting charity auctions to support Black Lives Matter organizations, and 100% of the proceeds for this clutch which is going for $1,500 will go to benefit The Okra Project, which provides services and meals for Black Trans People worldwide. So if you have the cash and want to own a piece of Zendaya's iconography then here is your chance!
