A look back at 2013 and looking forward to 2014

Hi there everyone. I hope you had a wonderful new year. I spent mine with my kids playing board games, reading book, sledding, and some video games. Today was a day of reflection for me. Ive been thinking a lot lately about setting goals for my blog for the new year and to be honest I'm stumped. Looking back over the last year I can see my little blog has come a long way from it's humble beginnings but I still have a long way to go. I want to say a great big thank you to thse of you who have stuck with me, made helpful suggestions, commented on my posts, and made me feel welcome in the nail polish community.

2013 got off to a slow rocky start for me. I had the intention of this blog being only a hobby with a few post here or there with my main focus being on my facebook page. But was left with the feeling that I was talking to myself. Then I got some followers and a few comments and my spirits were lifted. After about 6 months I realized that in order to be taken as a serious nail blogger I was going to have to put in more work.

I still have moments when it feels like I'm talking to myself, especially when I have several posts in a row that have no comments, or hardly any page views. I used to let that get me down but now it motivates me to just want to work harder. Thanks to the recent giveaway I participated in my followers count has tripled, I only hope that some (ok most) of you stick around and find something worth while in my blog to comment on or keep you coming back.

So what does that mean for me for 2014? For starters I need to really start blogging about my current stash. I have over 800 bottles of polish and Ive used maybe 120 of them. Seems I'm more of a polish collector than a blogger at this point. I also need to start putting more of my personality into my posts. Ive held back a little so far because I have days where I'm all over the board with my sense of humor. Yes I usually have the people around me in tears from laughing so much but it doesn't always translate well when written. Usually because I tell a lot of jokes using an accent. My co-worker and I spent an entire shift talking like Julia Child! (Did I just date myself with that reference?)
