Pasture Adventures

This is the absolute best place to relax after a day of weeding.

The pasture...with the sheep and pigs and guineas all grazing is my little slice of heaven...
ok, one of many slices here on the farm.

But still, there is something about these blue-skied, storybook-clouded days
that make my heart sing.  And spending time amongst my beloveds makes
me about as happy as I could possibly be.

Annie and Chester sat with me as we watched the sheep and pigs doing their thing.
The pigs were busy grazing.

The sheep... well, I'm not sure exactly what they were up to here under the pine tree.
I sat and watched.

Faith turned and faced me.
As I pursed my lips and made a kissing sound, she slowly walked right up to me.

Ear and head scratches were happily given and she stood still enjoying them.

Lately, it's almost as though Gracie's spirit has inhabited Faith's body.
Besides the fact that she looks identical to her Momma,
Faith is as friendly to me as Gracie was... and it's been a long time coming.

Hope remains wary, unless I offer a Ritz cracker.
Then she comes willingly.

But Faith... she just seems to understand.
She knows me now and trusts me... just like here Momma did.
We share a moment and my heart is filled.

Of course, I never have to worry about the pigs.
As soon as I call "Pig-pig-piiiigggggg", they come running right over to me.

Ginger sniffs my shoes... she always does this... I assume it lets her know where I've been.

MaryAnn lies down beside me and rolls to expose her belly.

I rub it as requested.
I love this pig.
We are definitely bonded... she's my girl.

Ginger sniffs around for a moment and then off she goes in search of grass.

It's fun to watch the interactions with the dogs.

The dogs remain cautious.
Pigs are a little intimidating, I suppose.

I love these moments, when everyone is sharing the same space.
The animals are quite trusting... they have no reason not to be.
I love that about them.
Everyone is at peace... especially me.
Having visited with me sufficiently, they all go back to what they had previously been doing...
peacefully grazing.

Happy animals.

Happy me.
Life is good.
