I started my stealth job search last week.
I used LinkedIn to notify recruiters that I'm looking for a new job, and so far I've talked with three recruiters on the phone. I also met one of them in person.
I eliminated two recruiters from my list right away because they insisted on knowing my current salary, which is none of their business.
I told them my salary target ($52K) but they said their clients "simply have to have" my salary details, so I told them it's not a fit.
The third recruiter didn't care about my current salary. She set me up for two interviews next week.
Now I have just heard from two more recruiters.
I have a phone call scheduled with of them tomorrow after work. I am a little nervous because in our email correspondence I told this recruiter, Sarah, that my salary requirement is $52K and other than that I don't share my salary details.
She said that would be no problem, but she needs to know my "total comp package." What is a total comp package, and why would I feel comfortable sharing it with Sarah if it includes my salary information?
